This is an excellent way to help your family enjoy eating whole grains.
Is there anyone who doesn't love cookies?

Connnie Murphy’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 Pound butter
2 C Sugar
2 C Brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
4 C Flour **
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
4 C oatmeal
3 C nuts
2 (12 oz) pkgs chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugars, add eggs, beating well.  Add vanilla.  Sift together: flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda; add to butter/sugar/egg mixture. Add oatmeal, chocolate chips, and nuts.
Scoop spoonfuls of dough on to cookie sheets and
bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Do not overbake.

Makes: 60 large cookies

Note: **I usually use whole wheat flour for at least half of the flour.  For each cup of whole wheat flour you substitute, add 1 extra teaspoon of baking powder.

Note:  I always use whole wheat for the entire amount of flour.

*Note from Christi: I made 2 c. whole wheat flour, 2 c. white flour. I didn't add the extra baking powder and it worked great! These are very moist cookies. My family loved them!

Also, this is a large batch of  cookies! You may want to freeze some for later (they freeze well) or make 1/2 the batch.
